Welcome to This Cookin’ Dad! For about a year and a half now, I’ve been working with my wife, Beth on our blog, Simply Budgeted. Mostly, I have focused on putting up recipes and talking about how our meals are influenced by our budget. As I have started creating these recipes and taking pictures of my creations, I have found that I need an outlet to pursue these interests.
In many ways, I am still just a kid playing with my food. I love to experiment with new techniques, new ingredients, new tools, and international cuisine. I also love to take my grandmother’s recipes and reinvent them for my family and to rediscover dishes that are just not seen very often.
I hope to further my journey through This Cookin’ Dad. I want to learn more about cooking and food, in general, and to share my results as well as any tips and tricks that I discover along the way. I also hope to learn more about food styling and food photography so that I can present my food in the best possible light. I will share many of my pictures, good and bad, on here and I will make sure to share what I learn with you.
According to my wife, I am bad about thinking that my meals are overly simple. “All I did was…” is almost one of my catch phrases. If you aren’t sure about something that I have done, just ask! I am more than happy to share if I know what you want to hear. I may post pictures without a recipe. If you want the recipe, just ask! I may not have it written down, but I’ll get darn close and will make it a point to develop it further.
